At any other time of year we’d be averting our eyes from this wart-covered pumpkin from Kibsons (above) but during Halloween is somehow feels oh so right. A Spooktacular Afternoon

If your neighborhood is not trick or treat friendly, why not head down to The Roost Rotisserie on 31 October? The Al Wasl eatery will be transformed to a delightfully scary setting. Along with a nutritious meal, Little Roosters will be given an Eastern-European kurtos dessert for them to decorate before devouring. Calling ghouls of all ages to come in their scariest Halloween costumes: Couqley in JLT is hosting a Fang-tastic Family Fun Friday on 27 October, including entertainment, a dedicated kids area, and best-dressed competitions.

Ghosts by the river

Riverland Dubai at Dubai Parks and Resorts, is throwing the biggest Halloween party for families from 30 October to 3 November. Riverland Dubai will give out 50,000 free candies to trick-or-treaters and the best Halloween costumes will win exciting prizes. The categories include best-dressed family, best-dressed child and best-dressed adult. Families are encouraged to take pictures in costume at Riverland Dubai and post them on social media using the hashtag #HalloweenAtRiverland to win a prize. Exceeding Eggspectations

Treat your little ones to a free cocoa waffle at Eggspectation, available for kids aged 12 years of age and under, from 28 to 31 October. This Halloween-themed waffle comes topped with a dollop of orange mascarpone dollop, and a drizzle of salty-sweet caramel.

With so many things left to do to get ready for Halloween, the last thing you want is to run out of candy when the witches and ghouls come knocking on your door. Well, Deliveroo has you covered. Costumes and decorations

Your one-stop shop for all your Halloween needs, Sprii has a range of costumes for your kids (and yourself, if you’re keen to go all out!). You’ll find everything from simple t-shirts for those kids who are not really into the Halloween spirit to complete costumes; they even have rompers and booties for your tiny tots who are not yet old enough to trick or treat. To get your house ready, Sprii also has listings of spooky decorations, party plates and games, plus books to inspire any DIY designs.

Family fun day at The Els Club

This one is for the whole family. While sporty types enjoy a round of golf, the rest of the family can indulge in The Els Club restaurant with the Halloween-themed ‘Scary Friday Carvery’, running from 1pm until the early evening hours. The Carvery will host a fancy dress competition where all children in costume will receive a free drink and a goodie bag, plus there’ll be a face-painting station, kid-friendly scary movies, and a luscious dessert station complete with special Halloween themed goodies. Nail that Halloween look

For those mums who don’t want to go all out with a head-to-toe costume, but would still like to get involved in the trick-or-treating fun, book in for a Halloween-themed manicure from Tao Spa at the Mall on Jumeirah Beach Road.

Spookfest on Palm Jumeirah

Calling all the little ghouls out there: the Atlantis Kids Club is hosting a Spookfest for children aged three to 12. The fun includes creating frightful arts and crafts to take home, loads of haunted pumpkin games, and an opportunity to rattle your bones during a dance session. There will also be terrifying treats on offer, some eerie giveaways, and glitter tattoos to add sparkle to your little one’s costume. Priced at Dhs225 per child for resort guest and Dhs250 for children who are non-resort guests.


Decorate your own treats

British retailer Marks & Spencer is bringing in a raft of treats for Halloween, including chocolate pumpkins and spiders, Count Colin Caterpillars, and buckets of Ghostly Mini Bites with Popping Candy, but our favourites are the Decorate Your Own Mummy and Skeleton biscuits, which come in a kit of gingerbread biscuits, icing and chocolate buttons, for Dhs26 per box.
