The Edit is the latest store in Dubai that refuses to be defined. If people are regularly multi-hyphenates, why can’t shopping be too?Think fashion, hard-to-find accessories, art, beauty, scent, home decor and of course, a speciality coffee bar – all on one beautifully arranged floor.
The store is light and harmonious, full of capsule wardrobe possibility. The clothes and accessories are arranged in one open space, the airy feel augmented by brass accessories and two plant walls, while most of the rattan-esque, beach-reminiscent decor is arranged in an adjacent room.
As for fashion, the founder, Rumana Nazim, has sourced most of the brands from London and New York, with the goal of connecting women in the UAE with brands they may have spotted in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. We loved gauzy white blouses by The Jetset Diaries, sleek, high-waisted denim from London’s Aq/Aq, Marquis Dangle Studs and Tribe’s elaborate, Egyptian-style sea-shell necklaces. Check out the store’s own line of candles that have been scented in Grasse, France (Night features soothing bergamot, black tea, vetiver and fig). They also stock the Paris-based skincare concept Oh My Cream and organic serums from Grown Alchemist, the Melbourne-based line of botanical-based products.
Upstairs, there is a gallery and meeting space for events of all sorts, including a recent talk focusing on sustainable food management and flexible dieting by Dubai-based trainer David Hatt from The Project DXB. Expect the unexpected down the line, like the June pop-up of from the edgy Sharjah-based modest-wear designer Sara Al Madani.
