Linda Dekkers, the founder of Live Loud Girl, is known for her on-trend interiors and DIY design hacks. The Dutch stylist (pictured at front) reveals her top places to shop, dine and surf in Dubai.
For a day out with the family
The beach, without a doubt. It is our happy place and we spend most winter weekends there. We will bring food, our surfboards and lots of suncream, and then stay there all morning. The kids are at the age where we can enjoy our takeaway coffee while it’s still hot and have a conversation, before jumping on our boards to go surfing.
For clothing and homewares
As a proper Northern European girl, I love to shop for fashion in boutiques when I am back home in the summer. In Dubai, I will swing by the H&M and Zara stores occasionally, and look for French favourites from So Chic. For interiors, most of my shopping is done online from shops mostly in Australia and Europe. Locally, I love to go to The Bowery Company, Tribe, Urban Nest, Ikonhouse and D.tales.
For date night
This so depends on the mood. When we feel like dressing up, Coya is a great place as it has a bit of that NYC vibe that I miss since we moved away. Yet, I can be just as chuffed with my feet in the sand at Salt on Kite Beach, 3 Fils or Single Fin at the Surf House.
For a regional getaway
A weekend boat cruise in Musandam, Oman, with friends.
For hair and beauty
For a workout
My weekly work outs are with the amazing Claire Falconer. She is the only person in the world who can push me further than I push myself. The workouts are a combination of cardio and exercises that I always feel the next day. The best thing about it, though, is that the workouts are on the beach. Besides these sessions twice a week, I will go for early morning walks.
For getting things done
Our new office space, Nasab, in Al Safa. This is no ordinary work space! The interior design of this hub is so inspiring, we just love coming here on a daily basis. It also offers great coffee, cakes and lunches to get us through the day.
My home. At the end of a hectic day, I love to be a couch potato. On the weekends, I will be an Eames potato with my morning coffee. Going through magazines, interior design books and Instagram gives me a lot of inspiration and is a way for me to relax.
